Or Rubber Bullets in C&B a Revolver

The wax bullet thread got me to thinking...Anyone ever try the rubber bullets in a cap and ball revolver or a pistol with drilled out flash holes... I'm thinking I'd seat the bullet all the way to the bottom of the chambers ...I wonder if #11 caps enough umph ...If not I've got a 45 TC Patriot pistol to try it in... I'm thinking maybe a Hot Shot cap adapter would work on it because of its dimensional similarities to the TC Cherokee... I need a sample bullet...

The only Hot Shot I'm familiar with is the Hot Shot Nipple which has a hole drilled through it crosswise and that would vent off some of the pressure you really need. Are you referring to an adapter that allows your to use a regular primer in place of a cap? Would there be room to put one in place of a nipple in the tight confines of the opening in a cylinder that the nipple is in?

I tried wax bullets in a .44 Remington for kicks once. I was using #10 Remington caps and didn't want to sacrifice a set of nipples so I just used them as is. Needless to say it didn't work, the bullet would stop in the forcing cone and you had to shear it off (not so easy) to get the cylinder out and then push half of the bullet out of the barrel and dig half out of the chamber. I added 3 to 5 grains of 3f (didn't really measure it) and that did work but the accuracy was terrible at 15' and I put a few wax bullets through the piece of Masonite I had my target taped to. Between the wax and the fouling the bore was a mess though it cleaned easily. I decided it wasn't worth the effort

Rubber is sorta "grippy", I'd think they'd have to be greased up to slide in or out. Clyinder gap is very likely to be problematic.

Yes, I was referring to a primer adapter, but that would be for use with the Patriot single shot pistol & drilled out flash holes for the revolver nipples... A little sniffing around on the www shows me I would have to change thread size on the adapter or dread the thought... the pistol... I'll keep sniffing around and see what shakes out..... Never wanted any part of the wax bullet thing & the plastic bullets don't look like there'd be much hope there.

Right after I posted I started thinking about a lube for the rubber bullet idea... aerosol spray case lube... or the bullet run over a patch loaded up with 1000+...maybe just a swipe with a silicone cloth???... I hadn't given any thought to cylinder gap problems at the time of my post but after your hint I did... Perhaps cylinder gap might get solved with a few grains of FFFFg?

I wonder if the wax/beeswax/grease bullets may work better than straight wax.

Some of this depends on your intended purpose. Target shooting, plinking, indoor pest control, etc....

I patched a plastic ball, from where it came from I don't know but it was orange and very light. But with a few grains of 3F I watched it sail out of view on a cloudy day. I tried to find more of them but never did, never thought about it, till this post. I didn't learn about ax-man surplus till the late 80's. Bet they would've have them. Always wondered what it would have done with 40-50grs of 3F when shot into a milk jug

A lot would depend on the bullet. Some companies make soft rubber bullets. I had some Speer bullets years ago that was a hard plastic bullet in a plastic case. Standard primer would drive that hard plastic bullets thru a cardboard box and thru a (ouch) garage door.
The hot melt glue bullets might work as well.

I collected a whole bunch of rubber slugs from the Police Range cleaned them up (didn't need much) and use them in my 12ga Howda as is with just a card between the slug & the powder.
