Politics - Interesting concept...

Raising the Barr

I live in Nevada, so gambling isn’t exactly a new concept to me. And were I a betting man, I’d bet that former Republican Congressman Bob Barr of Georgia jumps into the presidential race this week as a candidate for the Libertarian Party nomination. And if he does, I bet he wins the nomination next month at the LP’s convention in Denver.

Barr is a credible candidate, and unlike many of the Ron Paul crowd, fully realizes he’s not going to win the White House in November. This alone will cause many a Republican to twist themselves into knots, wailing that a vote for Barr could throw the election to Barack, just as Ross Perot did for Bill Clinton back in ‘92.

But as Shane Cory, national executive director of the LP, pointed out in a Washington Times article today, Libertarians “don’t give a second thought to our presidential candidate hurting the Republicans or Democrats,â€

I've been wondering if Bob Barr would Run or if he was even in the race yet. I'd vote for him in a New York second.

I'm getting sick and tired of voting for the lesser of two evils and having to hold my nose while I do it.

The lesser of two evils is still evil and this time around everything is real lesser.

Maybe Alan Keys would 'accompany' Barr - he's actually very Libertarian. That would allow the black voters to vote for someone other than Obama, which among my black friends and acquaintances has a 99% 'approval' rating in SPITE of his socialist views - just because of his skin color.

My previous manager - now my manager's manager - is a black man living in Chicago. He thinks Obama is a phony and a socialist.

Then again, my boss's boss is a Libertarian.

He is also very well educated.

He is also one of the brightest, hardest working people I know.

So, in other words, he has nothing in common with Obama or his followers since he is more than capable of thinking for himself!

Kind of explains nicely why he is ranked so highly! :D

Bob Barr

I like the idea of a former NRA board member, (very pro-gun guy?) running for president. It bothers me ( if I recall correctly) that he now works for the ACLU. He lost his political office in an election quite awhile ago, but works for that flaky outfit. Correct me if I'm wrong someone. Bruce

Well, much as I dislike mccain, if the libertarians split the vote just because they can, they will in fact elect hussein or hussy. Anyone who thinks that's a good proposition is deluded and is gonna have their tits in a wringer for eight years, just because they can.

If the libertarians think electing the most anti-liberty candidates to ever run for office is an indication of their tactical prowess, then I might be forced to emmigrate to somewhere safer to preserve my gene pool.

Funny thing is, the Democraps are split almost 50/50 over the two with extreme, viterolic hatred of one or the other. A proper campaign could concieveably grab a makority of the 50% that get "disenfranchised" after the Dem Convention.

Throw in the vast majority of Republicans who are only voting Mcain under duress, and there's a very real chance of a Libertarian Presidency.
