![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
However with regular Winchester factory loads it shoots about 8" high at 10 yards with the rear sight wound right down.

I have not been able to find a replacement rear sight.
Any help or advice gratefully accepted!!
Not sure, if I google model 59 images it does not look like it.mikld wrote:Factory sights?
You'll never get it zeroed with that rear. Look how much higher it is than the front sight. I'd say someone had a broken rear sight, so slapped that one on just to trade it off.wecsoger wrote:No, very definitely not factory rears.
Thank you, will call Numrich and try one.wecsoger wrote:No, very definitely not factory rears.
So if Bubba got in and did that, what else may have been done?
Just did a quick internet search, the orginal S&W ones are pricy, but there's plenty of aftermarket available.
My $00,000.02 worth, lose the rear adjustable and get a fixed. Once you get one in there you can shoot for sighting, then if you're off you do the maths to find the right height to get you there.
Hmmm. Went back, did another search, found this for twenty - thirty-some bucks

Hope Bubba didn't screw with the frame getting that other one in.
I like those old first and second gen Smiths.
Tried that but not easy to hit at 100 yardsGrizz wrote:move the gong back about 90 yards . . .
The front sight is integral with the slide! If it could be removed I would have made a new higher one!CaptainFinn wrote:That looks like a Millett rear sight, very high quality. It's supposed to be paired with a new front sight, which, on the model 59, IIRC, is staked in place. Staking a front sight was probably beyond tge skills of the previous owner.
