OT - Another set of combo pictures
Well, it's not technically winter anymore (not according to the calendar, and certainly not in South Carolina), and these aren't pictures of leverguns, but I thought you'd enjoy them anyway:
A "revolutionary combo":
This is a Tower Pistol in .69 caliber. A smoothbore I built from a kit - my first one - 20 years ago. My wife got it from Dixie Gun Works for our first Christmas together - yep, I knew she was a keeper!
A period knife, another present from my wife about 15 years ago:
A what self-professed patriot would be caught without a trifold hat?
An early version of a "speed loader". I didn't have any papercartridges made up for these (will need to do that):
Powder horn:
And a close-up of the lock on my Pedersoli 1766 Charleville reproduction in .69 caliber - like the Tower Pistol, a smoothbore:
And a final picture of the combo:
Of course, 10 seconds after putting everything away and downloading the pictures I realized I forgot my tomahawk!
Enjoy!

Where's the starter and powder measure?
Ya need to get it together and take another pic (throw the hawk in there too).

Looks like you are all set if the bloody British bother Beauford. I think you and I went through the muzzle loading deal about the same time as I could lay out a similar pack except for the flag. My flinter is a little later model, .50 caliber Hatfield. I enjoyed dressing up all period-like and hunting Ossabaw Island.

I've been looking for a bayonet, but haven't found one yet. I do need to assemble a more complete picture - will wait for the bayonet and then do so again, complete with the starter, measure, paper cartridges, and, of course, a tomahawk. Nath, you are right - the Charleville is in pristine condition. The Tower has been fired a lot - it isn't that powerful, but I still wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that one!Hobie wrote:Bayonet, you need a bayonet!

C.Cash, well it can sorta. It was probably used in both the Mexican War and Civil War because the barrel has been rifled at sometime. The family from Goldthwaite, Texas took it from a Kiowa warrior that their ancestor killed after they had raided their home and were tracked down. He used it and passed it on down through the family until there was no kin left. At least that is the story told to me by the previous owner. That is the original powder-horn above it.

Very cool Rangerider. That is a treasure indeed. Be neat to do some more forensics on that puppy...what it was originally, the Indian decorations...etc.
Deerwhacker, man that's beautiful too! I'm having a Lefty Lancaster made by a local builder and your pic has me chomping at the bit.
