POLITICS - a way to get legislators attention

Post by donw »

it is my opinion that the most effective way to get legislators off their current anti-gun legislation is to encourage all dealers to refuse to sell to state/county/city agencies that pass anti-gun legislation; whatever it may be.

as an example:

if a city outlaws possesing lead ammo or lead core ammo...refuse to sell ammo to it's law enforcement agencies.

if a county outlaws semi-auto handguns...refuse to sell guns or ammo for any semi-auto handgun to any of it's law enforcment agencies.

in fact, i would actually refuse to sell to, service any weapons, give any services or training to law enfocement agencies of those states, counties or cities that pass any further legislation.

ron barrett did it and advertises it, too. look at his advertisments in the NRA rifleman.

if every dealer did that, i'm sure there would be more attention to the amount and kind of legislation proposed.

I agree. Another thing is for the businesses to move out of localities or states that pass anti-gun legislation. Make it hurt them on jobs and tax revenue - and make it plain why. Plenty of states and towns welcome new business...

I was thrilled when the NRA stuck it to the city of Columbus after their idiotic assault weapons ban, though it would have been easy for me to hit the annual meeting there. That cost the city millions!

Unfortunately, usually MUCH easier said than done, especially when that is their lively hood.

I hear people say that all the time about CA and as inviting as that is, in many ways it's a very selfish move and oftimes unreasonable.

Better to stand and fight.

I like the refusal to sell idea much better, but if EVERY shop doesn't do it the same, one or two will just get tons of business at everyone elses expense.
