Are you alone for the holidays?
This is the 8th year of this tradition.
If you are alone for the holidays, you are invited to come to Texas to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years with my family, friends and I. Arrive the day before and depart at your leisure the day or two after. I will provide a private room and bath. You will enjoy all of our family meals, some bird hunting, rabbit hunting and shooting (your choice). This is completely anonymous. I will not disclose who was here unless you specifically say it is okay to divulge. There is no cost, nor expectations for you other than to get yourself here. We do have dogs and cats so if you are allergic please consider that.
We have had 6 previous guests that have become friends and the one year we did not have a guest we helped someone get to their daughters house for a reunion at the holidays.
If you are interested, just PM me and we'll work out the details.

Re: Are you alone for the holidays?
Sir, every year when you do this you make a positive impact on me. In all my 60 years, I've been alone during the holidays just once. I come from a big family. I married fairly young and eventually started mine. Almost all of my immediate, and quite a few of my extended family live with in an easy drive.
Even the one time I was "alone", and one can feel alone even with several hundred fellow GI's around, the USO tried to improve things. So, I really don't have the best feel for what it's like to be alone at these times.
So, what's the positive impact? Well, I could say it motivates me to help others in ways I can, and that'd be true. But the biggest thing you do is make me think, and thank the Lord for the blessings my family brings to my life.
So, thank you for showing, and teaching others that there needs to be more to helping others than lip service.

Re: Are you alone for the holidays?
THAT is the true holiday spirit. Sometimes it is lost in the tinsel and commercialism.
Thanks for reminding us all that there are still people out there who Understand.
AND for reminding us that in one way or another, we ALL can help further the Spirit of the 'holidays'...

Fine gesture. Fine man, 86er. God bless you and your family.
Almost makes me wish my daughter, son-in-law and grand kids weren't coming for Thanksgiving. Almost! Naw, not really. Would love to take you up on some of your generous hospitality someday. Doubt that will happen as I'm blessed with two fine children and their families. They try to visit me here, or include me at their homes in Texas for the holidays.

Very decent and selfless gesture on your part 86er.
Re: Are you alone for the holidays?
Joe, I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving. If someone takes you up on the offer, I know that they will have a great time since I have met both of your sons and they are great kids to be around.
