Well... that was interesting...

Post by Old Ironsights »

Got paged out this evening to an "unresponsive man, not breathing" just a block away from my front door.

Turns out it was a local barfly who got creamed by a semi... DRT. High speed, in town, Hit and Run ta boot.

Messy business... unhappy town... VERY unhappy Cops/Troopers.

Hit-and-run makes nobodies day....and what was a semi doing speeding in a built-up area???? Sounds to me like there may have been more than one barfly involved!

Truly sad behavior all the way around, but glad there was a "responsible adult" around to catch the call. Fewer and fewer of those, it seems, and more and more calls!

US hiway 85 goes right thru town, both bars front doors open up right onto the hiway. Semi's aren't the only ones that speed thru there. Plenty of folks in little turdhearsts, Suv's and pickups are in a hurry to get where they're going.

That must be a rough way to spend your evening. Hope you successfully deal with what you had to see. I also hope the driver is caught and prosecuted according to the law.

The "mainstreet" of our town of 500 is a N/S+E/W US Hwy with a posted 30mph blind corner that is only 1 block away from the town bar. Not the best arrangement in the world...

Trucks (& cars) regularly miss the corner altogether and plow into a brick building that somehow remains standing...

As much as I am a typical libertarian/privacy advocate, I am 100% behind putting speed cameras on that corner...

Not too bad really. That sort of thing bothers me much less than a Medical Run with a patient with a GI Bleed or puking all over the back of my ambulance...

No snow yet.

No, he was hit square. At least 30ft airborne before eating pavement with his skull. Facial identification was impossible.
