Took my 16 y/o out after elk
Took the 16 Y/O out after Elk in one of our jeeps. He shot it on top of the mountain about an hour before 0 dark thirty. Got it quartered and got off the mountain in the dark. Hiked back in the next morning and packed out 197 lbs. Whew....I hope that will always be a good memory for him...sorry about the bolt gun..lol

He has a memory to last a lifetime. Don't worry, we see those strange side lever guns on occasion.

anytime a Dad and his Son do things together it's always good, actually it's better than good...nice Elk...great Dad...no need to apologize for the bolt-gun, but maybe next year try a 45/70...thanks for sharing... :)

Sounds like a great time for you both. Mighty pretty country too.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

That's awesome. My best elk hunt ever was my son's first. Great job!

Congrats! Regardless of the rifle used... Sometimes it takes a little growin' up to appreciate the lever! And you need to remind your son of when/where the best place to shoot an elk is.

Re: Took my 16 y/o out after elk
Ok, I convinced myself that my son's elk was a good reason to upgrade my Fred Flintstone smoker I've had for 20+ years...I went from yabba dabba doo, to Bradley 4 rack....lol.
