PRICE CHECK - Winchester 70 Featherweight .30-06
My friend is wanting to sell a Winchester Mod. 70 Featherweight 30-06. He bought it over 15 years ago and has fired maybe 10 rounds through it at a range. It's been sitting in a case and is in beautiful shape. No wear or scratches. Does anyone know what it's approximate worth would be. I saw some in lesser shape for about $600 all the way to $900. This forum seems to be honest when it comes to prices. Thanks for any help.
Not that this is a levergun topic, but three years ago, I bought a used, push feed, 1980's .30-06 Featherweight in 100% condition (no box) at a local dealer for $500.
Eight months later, I traded it even (plus a $25 handling charge) to the same dealer for a later, 100% (no box) .30-06 Featherweight Classic with controlled round feed, and a little nicer wood.
I bought a similar CRF Featherweight Classic, but in 6.5x55, year before last, with a Leupold 2-7x33 scope mounted at another dealer for $525.
YMMV, depending upon supply/demand in your area, and cost to ship an internet purchase to you.
Winchester stopped making the Model 70, Featherweight included, for awhile starting in 2006, but has started production of them again in the Southeast US at their FN plant, and should have them (including Featherweights) at dealers by Father's Day this year for around $900.
The used $600-900 Model 70's you saw might have een either pre-64's, or later models in a rare caliber - like my 6.5x55 FW, examples of which I've seen traded (used) for $900 bareback & $1150 scoped like mine.

All due respects, but a 670 has nothing to do with the value of a model 70. A push fed model 70 in MINT condition should fetch $500 or so, given a posting that lets a bunch of buyers view. That being said...it's value will continue to decline as the "premier" of the new 70 gets closer. You didn't mention a scope and VERY few 70 push feed FW had sights. Good Luck!
