Re: Engine of the Day
I happen to think the Cummins N-14 is worthy, the one I'm operating went 1,408,568 miles before its 1st rebuild. And it didn't "need" rebuilding then, I had the cash and it was convenient. I'll have 1,994,070 miles on it when I deliver in Ft Worth this morning.

OK, I scanned the site, went to a few other paged linked to, and couldn't find the engine in the lead photo. What is it?
I worked in a shop that would "rebuild" an engine, in frame, in one day. New sleeves, new rings, new injectors, new bearings. And good for another 1/4 million miles. Not working on diesels prior to this I don't know how good/bad that job is (fleet vehicles).

Re: Engine of the Day
COSteve,
On the boats we buy fuel by the cubic meter or sometimes by the ton. Wait till you have to sign off on say 500 cubes of MGO (Marine Gas Oil or basically diesel) at $1100 per ton. That is when you really think about fuel costs.
Fortunately for me, I work for the industry that finds and produces the stuff so we are the seller mostly and just occasionally the buyer like that.

My favourite is the GM 6-71, I took this video about 12-13 years ago.
