Post-64 Winchester 94
"Antique Carbine"
SN:2801xxx (manufactured in 1964)
While taking apart my rifle I managed to break the front sight hood. It looked like it was cracked to begin with and when I tried to take it off it was the final straw. Anyway, I'm having a devil of a time trying to locate the correct sight hood for it. I checked most on-line sources and can't find one. I have already ordered two sight hoods, but found out they are not the correct height.
My front sight is .360" tall.
The broken front sight hood measures .580" tall.
All the other sight hoods that I have found are .500" tall, which does not leave me with enough of a sight picture using the .360" front sight.
From what I understand, Winchester produced three sight sizes over the years (.290", .310" and .360"). Winchester went from the .310" to .360" in 1964 (post 64) and used the .360" through the early 90's (I think). I can use a .310" (1st generation) front sight with my rear sight, which would give me enough of a sight picture. However, I can't use the .290" front sight (made during the early 90's and later) since it will not work with my rear sight (will not shoot point of aim).
Does anyone know where I can find a .580" front sight hood or an original .310” front sight? I would prefer an original front sight hood, but if I have to I could use an original .310" front sight.
Thanks, Paul
Needing front sight hood for Win. 94?!

Re: Needing front sight hood for Win. 94?!
I just checked the spare sight hood from my post 64 94 antique model and it measures .500, so does the one off my 9422, as far as I know both front sights are original but I can't check the 94 as It's for sale at my local dealers.
Personally I never use them, first thing I take off.
If it had been .580 I'd have posted it to you.
Just noticed on the photo the 94 front sight does look taller.
