Gun store near here has a 340 with a cheap scope, checkered stock, but it is in 22 Hornet! Excellent bore. I haven't seen one of these before. Plenty in 30-30, and 222, but this is a first.
What is this worth? Shop has $299 on it and might come down $20 or so.
Thanks.
Yeah, I know its not a lever, but I value the opinions here!
I paid 260 for one in 225 winchester a couple weeks ago. I would have loved to have seen it in 22 hornet. I guess it depnds on how much it appeals to you. I haven't seen one in hornet either.
That's a fair price IMO for a 340 in good condition.
I have one in 30-30 in original condition (no scope ever mounted) and I used one just like it to take my first deer many years ago. I've also used one in 222 quite a bit. They're good solid rifles.
The local shop has one in 223 ,asking $340 which is to much . One at the gunshow in 222 for $299 . So I would say he is the ballpark . I liked the rifle , but it isn't a light wieght by any means. Heavy for the caliber.
Yea, Snag it! The Hornet chambering makes it very desirable. I call that $299 price tag a price that could sell it for "any day of the week". So, you could play with it all you want and get your money back instantly. That's called "cheap fun" ----------Sixgun
$299 for a 340 in 22 Hornet is about $150 too low for Central Pennsylvania. I could buy a 340 Hornet for $300 at 0900 this morning and make $100 by Noon.

Might as well face it, you're addicted to guns . . .
