I am primarily a Winchester lever gun collector but when a dear friend offered me up this Winchester Model 52 22LR I could not resist. The rifle is a pre-A model, with speed lock, for those interested in those kind of things. It was manufactured in 1935. The period scope, a R.A. Litschert Spot Shot 20 power, dates to the late 30's or early 40's as best as I can tell
The gun almost could pass as new, a few tiny dings in the stock and approximately 98% blueing. The bore is a perfect 10.
The scope has external adjustments and has been very precise in making minor POA adjustments. The adjustable forward objective make parallax a non issue and the scope is a clear as modern examples.
I enjoy group shooting and this rifle as been a hoot. To date, the rifle is averaging .188" 50 yard groups, measured center to center in 9 separate groups. Ammo has been German made SK. Included is a picture of some shot this week.
Winchester really knew how to build a quality product that are still competitive accuracy wise with today's rifles....even one like this that is 78 years old.

Re: Winchester 52
I've wanted a Model 52 for a very long time. I came up with a model 75 that a friend had found in an abandoned house along with a very nice WWII Luger. My dad snapped up the Luger but he gave me the Model 75 as it had some water damaged parts.
I've found a new stock, hardware, magazines and it is now with my cousin who's going to gun smithing school for a re-barrel and refinish. Can't wait to get it back.
Yours is a real beauty!

Mark,
Thats a little strange for you.............a bolt action? But...............a nice bolt action. Are not many of those pre-wars around, even here in the east. And to find one with condition is something else too. I never did own one but have shot my share as my bud likes them and Model 37 Rems.
Hey, BTW, send me something, got a new puter and my e-mail thingy is gone.---------------Six

Re: Winchester 52
That's a fine rifle right there!
I've had a 75 and found I don't have the temperament for BR/group shooting.

Since "only accurate rifles are interesting" that old Winchester is VERY interesting.
