CALIFORNIA REGULATORY ALERT
This information is accurate at the time this CAL-ERT was written and originally distributed. The NRA Members' Councils of California will keep you informed as the situation changes in Sacramento.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!!!
CALIFORNIA FISH & GAME COMMISSION REGULATORY PROPOSAL
SWEEPING NEW REGULATIONS OVERSTEP EVEN THE EXTREME RESTRICTIONS OF AB821
FISH & GAME COMMISSION NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU! NOW!!!
The California Fish and Game Commission recently voted to adopt regulations intended to enforce AB821 (Nava) legislation that would limit the use of traditional Lead -cored center-fire rifle cartridges in certain areas in California for hunting and the taking of non-game animals.
The proposed regulations voted upon by the California Fish and Game Commission expanded the scope of the intent of AB821 and has added to the list of the restricted ammunition to include black powder, pistol, and rimfire cartridges and intended to limit the use of those cartridges also for hunting AND the taking of non-game animals.
The proposed regulations will be voted upon by the Fish and game Commission at the next Commission meeting on April 10th Thursday, 10:00 a.m. and Friday April 11th, 8:30 a.m.
LOCATION: UC Davis Bodega Bay Marine Laboratory Lecture Hall 2099 Westside Road in Bodega Bay, CA
ACTION REQUIRED:
Please contact the Fish and game Commission and request that the regulations for the enforcement of AB821 be redrafted to limit the regulations to center-fire rifle ammunition only, as stated in AB821.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although the NRA vigorously opposed AB821, it is now law. However, it is unfortunate that the CA. Fish & Game Commission would seek to expand the restrictions much farther than those required by AB821. Therefore, the NRA urges you to contact the CA. Fish & Game Commission and voice your opposition to those enhanced restrictions that exceed the scope and intent of AB821.

I disagree with the part about "only centerfire rifles" though. I doubt seriously that ANY lead projectiles are anywhere in enough quantity to endanger wildlife, and my suspicion is that any 'evidence' to that effect is distorted, contrived or fabricated.
Maybe tons of shotgun pellets in shallow water over many decades, MAYBE, but even there I don't think legislating NOW will help undo the past 100 years of shot pollution; better to dredge and recycle the lead.
