I'm concerned about knife safety here. It appears that the blade is another accident wanting to happen.
I mean, how's it gonna look when the dude's gunbelt falls off because the buckboard helped saw it in two?

somethings gotta be done.

Good pictures, thanks. I wear moccasins all the time when I don't have my boots on.

Nice '86 in that first photo. I wonder if it is the one that I now own? 8) Yep, that knife in the second photo sure makes me nervous. I'm glad it isn't my gun belt he's starting to cut!

I think they are all stage props and not real cloths. No dirt. You can still get the same kind of picture in any touristy location in America. We had one taken last summer down in Gatlinburg. They are cool as all get out.

Since the first one's Wichita he could be a drover who just bought himself some new duds and a bath before having his picture taken. Of course he's gonna turn that belt around to show off his shooter. Same could go for the other fellow too. I love 'em RR7. Thanks.

If you ever get the chance, spend a little time in the Old West Museum in Cheyenne, WY, (my home town) or the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY and you will see that cowboys not only wore moccasins, but many preferred them when not in the saddle. Few could afford custom made boots, or even well fitted boots, so their feet needed a rest whenever they could.

I've seem many pictures just like these, and sure, many of them were staged. But that was the method and style of the day. Cowboys wanted to dress up for a picture and show off their shoot'n irons and knives. Probably the most important and valuable things they owned besides their horse and saddle, if they had both. A few were Easterners wanting to blend in, but most were everyday working pokes who wanted to show off to their friends and perhaps a lady or even better, a Saturday night fling with a "soiled dove". In the late 1880's, early 1890's, Cheyenne was famous for having a bath house, saloon and brothel all in the same building right in the middle of town, about 3 blocks from the Capitol Building. And, if I remember correctly, there was a picture studio in the hotel across the street. When Wyoming became a state in 1890, some of the businesses moved south across the tracks, about 200 yds., so they were not so prominent. Thanks Rangerider!!

I reckon that's why he got the rifle in the first place.

I think the Items are props but the photographer must being doing quite well, those are some nice "Wild West" clothes and gear, except the straw hat. He might have got them from a "WILD WEST SHOW" that closed down. Who Knows! RR7

Good photos. I'd guess they're staged like everyone else, but it's still fun to look at how it was done. Keep-um coming.
