A nicer pair competition

Post by Old Savage »

Talk about your fancy guns, here is the pair we took out to test yesterday. The belong to friend Charles. The leather slinged model is a rifle he got when he was 15 (he is 57 now). He has hunted deer with it all these years ( 30+ to it's credit). You will notice how caretul he has been with the finish. Just to check it's zero a 3 shot 50yd group of .7. The other is a 308 he just acquired. We sighted it in for the first time after adding this scope. after two sight adjustments he shot a 3/8" group at 50 with it.

And, ah, Charles himself with my pristine 88.

Very nice! We need to do more of these "nice pair" posts, though I must confess, that guns are not the first thing I think of when I read those words!

Another productive day. Three nice rifles and it's good to see they are still being put to good use.

I'll bet there were a few guys looking for wet t-shirt pictures when they clicked on this!
Nice 88's. I have one in the closet. When I first got it it had a sidemounted  $30 scope on it. This really bugged me as it's already tapped for scope bases. So it's got holes drilled in the side which I've plugged temporarily. When I got her cleaned up and scoped with a 2-7x Leupold I worked loads up and was very surprised how well it shot. Nice rifles.

Those are very nice.....I am most impressed with the rifle he has used for the last 42 years.
