Broken sight

Post by MikeS. »

I took 4 of my lever guns out to the range today, was having a great time until I went to shoot my 1894 .44magnum. Got it loaded and up to my shoulder when I noticed the rear sight was down. Went to put it up and it wasn't down, it was gone.

I'm like what the heck??? I thought maybe it got knocked off. Went and looked in the case and here is what I found.

After a couple minutes I remembered that when I took it out of the safe I put it in the soft case and stood it against the wall. Bang, down it went onto the concrete floor. Didn't think much of it at the time but I bet it hit straight on the sight.

When I finished at the range went by my local gun store luckily they had a used one they put on for me, cost me 5 bucks. A fairly cheap lesson overall.

A really cheap lesson, given no AD, and that friendly gunshop.

AD? Accidental discharge?

Nope, rifle was fresh out of the safe, guns in the safe I don't keep loaded. Now the ones in the house in the wall safes, that's a different story. :)
