Win 94 in 44 Mag and "black shadow" poly furniture...
I can get my hands on this carbine. I was not aware that Winchester made the Black Shadow in 44 Mag. Or is the shop owner misreading the chambering? I thought these were 444 Marlins...?
And the Price is $399 which I think if very reasonable. What do you guys think?

i think they did make some other black shadows, but if it is the 444 i would jump on it.
i would pass on the 44 and get a short action 44 like the rossi 92 or the marlin 94, just my preference.

Yea if a 444 $399 would be a real good buy. One thing about the Win in 44 mag, is they usually have a tighter twist barrel than the Marlin, but that only matters if you're going after the heaviest bullets, like 300gr or so.

Seems the 44 Mag version is kind of rare - relatively speaking. I sure don't see any for sale on gunbroker - several standard 94AE's in 44 Mag but no Black Shadows... I think this shop has it underpriced some. And I think it has a scope mounted... I might be able to get him to keep the mounts/scope and drop the price... but maybe not - the owner's a typical gun shop crumudgeon.

I saw one about 7 years ago for 329. at a shop in Meridan CT, I thought it would make a great knock about rifle. And alot of folks used Winchester 94's in 44 that I knew and liked them.
