cast bullet molds for 50-110 wcf

Post by 457121 »

Tom @Accurate molds has a couple of designs in the catalog for 1886 50-110's. They have a nose profile similar to the to the original Winchester designs for easy loading from the gate into the magazine tube. I started using his #51-450C for 50-100-450 loads a couple of months ago. After having good success i wanted something close to 300-325 gr. for duplicating the high velocity smokeless load of the 50-110. I asked Tom via e-mail if he could put the nose of the #51-450C on the body of the #50-325G and by 2:00pm that afternoon he said it was now in the catalog as #51-320E. Great customer service.

I talked with the gentleman that owns Brooks custom molds out in Montana a few years back about making a copy of the original Winchester 50 cal 300 grain HP mold for a rechambered circa 1897 Marlin 1895 that had been rebored and made into a 50-110 .

Seems to me 6 years ago he was talking like $125-150 for a copy of that mold .

WOW What a candy store. Looks like he will make anything within reason. I like the thought of a 250gr bullet for a 45/70 to use for mild plinking and small game. I see he offers a 220FP for 38/55's.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!
