New old Stevens Favorite 1915
First, I apologize for not posting in awhile but my old computer croaked along with my favorite websites. But I'm back now. Anyway I just won this Stevens/Savage marked Favorite off Auction Arms and was tickled. .22lr with a full blue octagonel barrel, excellent rifling, receiver just turning brown. Buttplate is broke, but I knew that and it's a cheap fix.Picked it up from my FFL and spent about 3 hours getting the gunk off and out. Took it to the range and shot about 50 rounds through it and was suprised how good it grouped. At 25 yards I was getting half dollar and smaller 5 shot groups offhand. Not bad for me and my bifoculs. Hammer cocking and trigger pull was very smooth and easy. So I think this is what my grandson will be learning on instead of that Crickett I got him last year.

That sounds like an awful classy way to start your grandson out. What a lucky guy! Very nice grab.

That is a nice one, Toby. I like that full octagonal barrel.
Re: New old Stevens Favorite 1915
congratulations.
That is a very nice example.
One of those broke my heart a couple of years ago. S/N dated it to about 1905. It was sold to me as a .22LR, but when I received it, it was .25RF.
I had to send it back.

Great looking rifle, lucky kid What year was it made? UH I see it in the title
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Nice looking rifle Toby, I'd say it has more class than a Cricket.
