Navy Arms Lever ?

Post by flashpan »

I passed on one of these at a gun show today because I'm unfamiliar with them,
What can you guys tell me about them?

Navy Arms copy of a Winchester '92 in .45 LC with a 20" octagon barrel.

Just wondering if I missed a good one or not....

The ones (Navy Arms) I have seen have all had real Walnut stocks on them. If it was a decent price I would jump back in the car. .

They are Rossi 92s, not a bad thing at all, especially the fact all IIRC were pre safety like Interarms and pre 2006 EMFs. Navy Arms went out of the '92 business in mid 2006. As .45Colt says, they're genuine walnut, unique among Rossi importers to be so furnished.

I have a NA 92 carbine in .45 Colt. A friend had it slicked up a little then sold it to me so he could get a 73 rifle. It has oil finished walnut stocks and a casehardened reciever and buttplate with a fairly good metal/wood fit. It looks good shoots good and I realy enjoy it.

flashpan, I have one of those rifles. I like it a lot! Looks great, shoots great, and the action is pretty good as I got it. Maybe later I will watch my video from Nate Kiawa Jones and slick it up a little. It is pretty good tho as it is. I believe mine is a short rifle. I have had it a few years now and gave $350 for it then. No regrets.

I THINK a friend has a .44-40 short rifle f/s through a LGS. The "think" part is I don't know if it has sold. If it is what I believe it is (Navy Arms), it's one he's stripped (in the white) and given the dry-ish stock an oil down--because it was a rare example where the finish (both metal and stock) was not up to snuff and he "just had to play with it." Neither metal or wood is still perfect yet. It was and I think remains a little stiff of action as well. An early Monday morning rifle? It had very little use prior to his purchase, maybe even NIB, and IIRC he never shot it unless it was ten rounds at the range. Despite little use, it was a little gunky--contributing to above stiffness--and so he cleaned it. All of the above is to say, if interested PM me and I'll pursue the current details, with the warning that despite the above (including stripping) he is not the sort to not give it away. As he says if it doesn't sell close to his asking "I'll just keep it." I'd view it as a project gun--a refinish and slicking up--unless you want it just as a rough'n'ready shooter. I bring this up as they are the most rare of Rossis, are not growing on trees and may just tickle your fancy! Any sale would be through our LGS/FFL (I don't think the buyer has to BE an FFL but of course must ship to).
