Belated Christmas present is on the way...

We decided to pool the money we received for Christmas and our birthdays (both of us are Dec babies) into the household accounts until I am gainfully employed again. This morning SWPUWM ran the numbers and said "We're good right now and can each spend $50." so I did...

After hearing about this book for several years, I'm excited to get a hold of it. :D

I've contemplated getting a Swedish Mauser several times and have yet to do so !

Perhaps once I get my grandfathers 6.5 Arisaka up and running I'll keep my eyes peeled for a nice ALL ORIGINAL Swedish Mauser . We had one in the shop recently I could have gotten rather inexpensively along with a bayonet but I didn't have extra funds to spend on it at the time !

6pt if you get the chance to grab an original m96, do it! The one thing to keep in mind is the 96 action is not as strong as the 98 BUT when kept to sane caliber selection and pressures, it's a fine action. I've had a couple of originals, a couple of sporters in the original 6.5 (still have one, looking for more) and currently have a WWII Husqvarna 96 action barreled in 7x57 waiting to be stocked.

Next on my "serious list" a CG63 or CG80 target rifle. It's just a matter of having the funny green stuff when one shows up.

Hmmm based on the prices those folks are getting maybe I should have bought the one we had in the shop back in the summer . Think we sold it for $200 with the bayonet !

If it was all matching, that was a STEAL! If it was mis-matched, that's a very fair price. My local pusher has mis-matched and Bubba'd (from slightly to REALLY Bubba) starting at $269. Normal around here for a mis-matched but otherwise original is $350 on up depending on which rear sight it has, how much figure is in the wood and if the seller knows what he has (or just thinks he knows what he has).
