Thanks all,
It's very humbling to think, my dad took me starting at 12 years old hunting.
Now at 50, I'm making sure he at 72 is still getting out there in the woods.
It's just the way it's supposed to be me thinks
Nice going!! My 99s didn't make meat this year, just my CVA Wolf black powder. Sure wish i could take my Dad hunting enjoy it while you can. Can't beat it.

Yes John I really should BUT easier said than done.
I have two Winchester 94’s in 30wcf & 25-35 and the model 73 in 38-40
that I have yet to make meat with.
That 99 is very special to me and very hard to leave in the safe. She has been
traveling the woods with me since I bought her new when I was 14 years old.
She was at my shoulder when I took my first buck and first doe and many deer
there after. The only deer that required more than one shot was the first doe I
took with her; all others one and done.
I had a little sadness as I was placing the ear tag on her.
I realized I had just ended my chance of getting out for
one of my favorite seasons of all, the after Christmas
primitive flintlock season.
But fortunately the late season squirrel & rabbit season come
back in so I will still be able to get out there with one of my
favorite Parker girls in hand.
Can`t believe i missed this thread, congrats guys, great hunting.

Mike, I still have two tags to fill. A doe and a buck, having only taken a doe during the early muzzleloader season. Have had two others with in 30 yards or so but have not shot them. bet you could get an over the counter doe tag still for that late season.

You've been a good bit more fortunate then myself (although I made it to my 50th bday this year as well)!
My father never really had the chance to go hunting with me that often . He worked for the DOD and was usually unable to get away for that type thing .
I did however hunt quite a bit with my maternal grandfather although I only killed a single deer when he was with me . My grandfather passed 4 years ago this coming May 21st and my father has Parkinson's bad enough to where I doubt if he could hit a deer at 100 yards if he had the inclination . He'll be 76 in 8 days and still likes to collect guns but I don't think he's fired one in over 10 years . He does however seem to have a keen intrest in how they shoot when I return from the range with one of "his" new rifles or the skeet field with one of "his" new shotguns .

You need to find you a place to hunt in the Old Dominion !
In the right county you can hunt from the first saturday in October until the first saturday in January and kill two per day the entire season but only 3 bucks !
Matter of fact if you are an archer you can start in September and go well into February I believe in the areas that have what is referred to as the "Urban antlerless season" .

Well done tman.
what's your medicine of choice in the 308 win. ?
My favorite & my 99's has always been the Winchester 150 grain power point.
All one shot kills other than the first doe I ever took and that was do to a very young
inexperienced operator.
