Gentlemen,
Recall my post from December of last year regarding my layoff - well, Friday (2/15) my prior employer paid me off (ironically the same day as my regular paycheck from my current employer). I have a bonus check coming from them next month and then our association is finished, forever.
Bittersweet, of course, no one chooses to get laid off, yet more sweet than bitter as a result of the severance. I paid off my home equity line of credit so now we have absolutely no debt other than the house payment. No car, boat, or credit card.
In addition, as mod71alaska knows, I used a little of the money to buy a present for myself. I'll post pics when she arrives.
Every once in a while we need to step back and remind ourselves that
1. Things (even seemingly bad things) happen for a reason and
2. Life is good, even when it's not, because there are LOTS of people out there who would trade places with even the meanest of us.
I enjoy the association I find on this site more than most of you know.
Thanks.
Quinn

OT Old job/new job update
We are determined that before the sun sets on this terrible struggle, our flag will be recognized throughout the world as a symbol of freedom on the one hand, of overwhelming power on the other.
