1/2 mile south of our house, either Dec '09 or Jan '10. First time I had to wait for the road to be opened to get to work.

I do like living here. I can see all of the way to the horizon in the west which makes for some beautiful sunsets BUT... We are pretty far from everything. Which isn't all bad, no one here ("locally") locks any doors, we leave our keys in our vehicles, even in town.
We don't have much locally as far as for restaurants, shopping, no movie theaters, no cable TV (we have satellite TV/wireless or satellite Internet). Most of us live 20 - 45 minutes from work. Our vehicles are always dirty, I drive four miles of rock (gravel) to get to pavement. But the people living near me are very friendly, neighbors (at least mine) will drop whatever they are doing to help you if you really need them.
But we have no light pollution, the night skies out here are fantastic, no drive by traffic, crime is something that we read about in the papers... 20-45 minutes from work for you and neighbors. What type of work![]()
But we do have alot of wind, all of our trees lean north because of the prevailing winds out of the south. More than our share of tornados, straight wind storms, snow and ice storms.
Overall though, compared to the few years that I spent in metro Atlanta, I much prefer living in rural Kansas.

Yes, I like it.

Our only child/son is 32, married and long emancipated, graduated from HS before we moved to the country. We used to live about 65 miles from here.foxtrapper wrote:Thanks for the reply. If you don't mind a couple more questionsIf you have kids ,how far to school and medical care? I guess your kids would have to move away when grown, but what a place to grow up! Oh I forgot ,you have a beautiful place and ponies!!!
