Have to show my boxes

Post by roughcreek »

Here are some boxes for ammo I have made over the past few years.

Image
This was done with Photoshop Elements. The box is a Cheyenne box.

This is also done with PS elements and Cheyenne boxes (2). Had to use 2 tops and 1 bottom to get the two piece box I wanted. Forgot to put the string in the seal label for opening.
Image
This is a factory box and made changes to a 30-30 box and printed a label

Wanted a 2 piece box so had to make one. Copied an old label and printed one for the box to seal it.

Photoshop Elements took a while to learn to do what I wanted and hard to get the color I wanted to print, but it was fun and I enjoy the boxes.
I'm still working on trying to get the right color of orange for some 38 spec boxes.

Those are really nice. I think the "ruger only" loads are a stroke of genious. OR ingenious depending on your point of view. Would really simplify having different strength of loadings :D 3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

roughcreek,

Where do you get the factory box label images to print?

I'd like to do some in .45 Colt that match the red yellow and blue Winchester vintage.

I find a "not so good" vintage box at a gun show (some are pretty dirty and torn, but cheep), take a picture of it and put it into Photoshop Elements (I have an old version 2) and then clean it up or make changes to it and print it out onto full sheet sticky back label paper. This 12 ga box is Cheyenne 2 piece (can't find them anymore) and the original box was pretty dirty, but just left it that way.

I like those winchester boxes too. Have one with the bear standing up, going to use that next. Haven't run across one like that for 45 tho.

OK, that works for the labels. Now to find some boxes. I'm not good enough to make them myself.
