Well it has been another interesting week. First of I know it is not a leveraction but I know alot of you like a good shotgun and I also think they go hand in hand with a lever as in both are fast to the shoulder and to me handle the same.
Tuesday night my friend shot me 13 rabbits through the head out of my 4x4 using his 22 and my Rem cyclone ammo, they shot well (ammo and Rob) pulling a couple off at 60 odd yards.
Wednesday I cleaned and jointed the rabbits for the customer and Thursday my wife returned my anniversary present by offering to put some cash towards a trade of a couple of shotguns I did not get on with. So of we went to a dealer who stays open late on a Thursday. He did not have any English sidexsides that fitted me but the last gun I tried, this Spanish AyA fitted perfect. It is mint, hardley used at all and they cost new I think around £1200 but for £400 (including the trades) I got the gun and 500 shells and a face mask I've been wanting for when I'm calling fox's.
Well actually I got 550 shells because the dealer through in 50 11/4oz 3s too
Friday after work I patterned it and shot two pigeon coming into roost oh and it is choked 3/4 3/4 so pretty tight.
Saturday evening I visited a favourite roosting spot for pigeon and had another 5 plus some misses
Today early this morning I called for fox but none showed and then shot another crow (the one in the pic) then missed another crow
I then went to camp for a warm drink and a pipe of baccer. Whilst walking out of camp shortly after, the pheasants were telling me of a fox so I stood and waited to see if another bird would give me some idea of where it was heading. Well that fox as it happens was coming my way and as I moved to get a better view Tia moved in front of me
I made a good stand ready for next weekend only I'll be toting the 30/30
Sorry the pic not up to the usual standard, I tried to do it one handed
All in all I am happy, even though it is tight choked I think the fit still makes for hits. It is heavy and feels very similar to my Pedersoli M/L. Roll on goose season
Nath.
