POLITICS - More on the nominations from Ann Coulter
Ann seems to agree with some on this forum that 4 years under Hilbama would be better for conservatives than four years under Mccain. Some interesting observations follow:

mmm, maybe I will write in Ron Paul in November.

She might be right. Voting in a Dem for president and Repubilcans for everything else might help in four years. Pray for the health of our SCOTUS judges though.
I'm gonna go puke now.

That's how I'm going to look at it - as "Jimmy Carter II", hopefully followed by our own "Reagan II" (perhaps my own governor, Mark Sanford - please, please, please!).
But I am really worried about the SCOTUS. It is balanced on a razors edge, and even when the GOP has had a majority in the Senate, they have approved the Dem nominees. Clinton's or Obama's would be the worst kind of "living-constitution", "European-following", liberal-activist pond scum she or he could dredge up - and our side would probably help confirm them!

I fail to understand why anyone thinks that the liberal McCain will nominate conservative candidates for the SCOTUS.
Believing that this man will stray from his perverse pseudo-conservative political philosophy to service the wishes of a right-wing conservative constituency that barely supports him is simply ludicrous.
This geezer doesn't care if he has any friends left at the end of the day, and he will nominate liberal and liberal/moderate judges. Put money on it.
He will betray his Republican constituency.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

WRONG.....
If they, Osama or Billary are elected they will raise taxes....
Create more government entitlements.....
Mandate universal health care which is welfare....which YOU will pay for...
and try to take your guns....
and it goes on an on and on
Mccain is not my first choice.....
but to vote for any one of the two commis is insane...

I pray NO ONE thinks he would nominate Constitutionalist judges.FWiedner wrote:I fail to understand why anyone thinks that the liberal McCain will nominate conservative candidates for the SCOTUS.

One has to wonder what a guy like McCain hopes to leave for his children and grandchildren. What are his hopes and dreams for the United States? Is everything these politicians think and do always centered on the big "ME", "WHAT"S IN IT FOR ME"?? McCain is no spring chicken, he's getting up there in years, I would like to imagine a guy like him, if given the opportunity to be president, would want to make his last few years really count for some good to his country. As a prisoner of war for 5 years I believe it was, it seems like there should be a burning desire there to make it all count for something. But as he himself says, "I want to "REACH" across the isle". Across the isle?, isn't that where Pelosi, Schumer, Feinstein, Teddy, Clinton, and all the other trash Dems sit? Isn't across the isle where the liberals, anti-constitution types are more abundant? Lots of Anti-Gunners across the isle. But McCain wants to reach out to them. He should just join them.FWiedner wrote:I fail to understand why anyone thinks that the liberal McCain will nominate conservative candidates for the SCOTUS.

Pull that Republican lever and make sure your representatives in DC are Republicans. A Dem in the oval office will have little effect if Republicans control the House and Senate.RIHMFIRE wrote:WRONG.....

Unless a judge gets replaced.
I may very well pull the Republican handle and vote for Ron Paul for POTUS if McCain gets the nomination.
Gonna go puke again.....this stuff stresses me out...

McCain has shown support for all of that, too.

We'll see how things progress. I am still holding out hope that a dark horse will emerge during the convention - mainly my governor Mark Sanford. If McCain picks Sanford as his running mate, I'll vote for the ticket. Heck, McCain's older - maybe we'd get lucky?
I still need to noodle on the rest. Perhaps Coulter is right, and 4 years of Hillary or Obama will snap the country back, ala Jimmy Carter to Reagan. My fear is Hillary - if it is Obama versus McCain, lesson time to the GOP is certain. Even if it is Hillary vs. McCain, I'm wondering if it is time to send the party leaders a really loud and clear message. They are assuming folks like me will chicken out and vote for whoever is the GOP nominee against Hillary. Not a half bad bet. But we need to stop our own party's slide to the left before it picks up any more momentum. You'd think they would have learned from the 2006 elections, but they took home exactly the wrong message...
