Intersting Case of an Alteration INCREASING Value - B-86
This auction is very interesting. While I understand the allure of a shortened barrel on the heavy Brownings, I can't imagine why one would pay significantly more for a used, modified Browning 1886 than a NIB one. Really, how much does it cost to cut, recrown, and and add a few dovetails. Used, no box, cut barrel, extra hole in tang: $1525 with 3 days to go

I would love to have it. Its just the right size now.
I am a salty, old, retired Chief Petty Officer who is not impressed by much.

However, getting a short rifle, already set up for a tang sight, and with Browning's name on it...
That's got to be worth something.
The seller also did a great job with the detailed photos, not that it's hard to sell a Browning.

Dang, I have such a thing for short rifles!
I may have to consider having the barrel shortened on my B86.
That is a great looking rifle!

It must be the allure to have it with crescent butt stock, and the octagon barrel. Personally, I would quicker buy the SRC, and leave my long gun as it is. I've got both guns, and would never hack on either.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as the worms.

Why you ask, would someone spend more on an alternation than an original? Because in this great nation, there is a seat for every a__. Plus, the abundance of money makes unknowledgable or lazy people shell out the bucks before using their head. Great place we all live in. ---------------------Sixgun

It is a beautiful rifle though. If I ever see a Miroku T/D at a good price maybe I'll make one of these. But it sure as heck won't cost me $1600.
