Not badly engraved, but it has a non-Winchester front sight ramp. The outstanding wood is the best part. If the gun was all original it would be worth close to that price, someone else's engraving detracts, not adds, value.

Mike,
Curious about the front ramp. When I read your post I suspected a cut barrel but the rear sight dovetail looks right for a short rifle. I looked at mine (trust me it doesn't look like this one) and the front ramp is shorter than the ones on the full length 64's. Mine is the style that is part of the barrel but its also a little earlier than this one.
Curious about your take because I know you are very knowledgeable about Winchesters. It's important to me to be able to spot improprieties because mistakes can be expensive. Thanks in advance.

"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
