POLITICS - what's wrong with us????????

Post by donw »

why do we gun owners allow the same !@#$%^ politicians to keep getting elected/re-elected????

we're where we're at because we allow it to happen, that's why!!!

i don't know about the rest of you folks but i write, call, email and fax my so-called "legislators".

i am not rude, crude nor offensive but i DO emphasize i WILL NOT vote for them if they vote in favor of what ever i am against and will encourage others to do the same (not vote for them).

barbara boxer will not return correspondence to me and at one time told me she would put me on "a list of those who disent"

not only should we call them, email them, fax them and write to them, we should DEMAND their removal from office when such legislation as the "micro-engraving" is passed. :!: :!: :!:

we have the power of the vote...we'd better use it or we'll lose it!

The power of the "vote".

That's a good one.

Q: Who counts those "votes"?

A: (Now you know who has power...)

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

I have written, emailed, and occasionally called Durbin, Obama, and what's his face and it DOES NO GOOD. These socialists couldn't care less about what their constituents want. They have their own agenda and that is what they care about.
They all come from the big cities where they live off of the inner city entitlement groups.
Those of us who vote against them are to few to make a lot of difference.

I dont think the votes arent tallied right. I just think too many people vote based on how they hope someone might act in office even if their record shows different. They look over their party & pick the guy most likely to win, no matter if he represents what they believe in or not.
We send a message that we dont care how you vote or what you stand for as long as your party starts with the right letter. I'v een as guilty as anybody, maybe moreso. In the past I just voted republican & never gave it much thought. I was brought up thinking Rep= Conservative = smaller Govt & lower taxes. Life has proven thats just not so.
Politicians for the most part are munipulative & lacking moral fibre, thats how they get where they are & we keep believing their manipulative rhetoric even when it contradicts what they said yesterday & more important how the vote & what legislation they introduce.

I get responses from legislators all the time, theyre representing what they believe their constituants want. Who can blame them when we keep reelecting them.

People pee & moan all the time but when they get a chance to make a difference they just vote the party line.

These reasons are why I am not party affiliated.

I have only missed 2 elections in 30 years.

I email my representatives alot, am I on a list? Probably.

I will become a criminal when they outlaw my guns.

Maybe we should start a secret handshake for the post-Hillary times...

I have had quite a bit of experience attempting to persuade politicians and, if I am in the minority according to their polls, I might as well be protesting at a Woodchuck hole down in the Alfalfa field for all the good it does. There is one thing that will get their attention .... court action by the umbrella group (i.e., the NRA).

I still have to say that I am extremely doubtful that the practical operation of this serialization project is going to fly. The sheer amount of computer input per day and the difficulty of maintaining the database is going to make it a very difficult and expensive project, which will result in delays in implementing it, followed by more delays, followed by auditor's reports, massive cost overruns, etc. if our Canadian gun registry is anything to go by.

Our vote in Calif is worthless because of the number of people here who want something from the govt. or work for it directly or are committed union voters or lefty loonies. We call them democrats. Some exceptions of course in the named groups.

I write Boxer and Finestien along with my Congressmen and State reps all the time. I am probably on the desenters list right next to you. But here in CA they get away with ignoring us because I believe voters are LAZY!!!!!! Most do not take the time to watch to see if their reps are really representing them. They just watch the adds during election time and that is the only time they care. Then they spend the rest of the time b$%^&ing about the people they voted for.

By the way none of the people currently in office in /for CA have recieved a vote from me. There for they dont represent me but I am stuck with them any way kind of depressing. :x

Realize that the real purpose of most gun laws is not at all what the law actually does or doesn't do, but rather the 'step' towards the ultimate goal. For instance, "waiting periods" weren't at all about making people wait, or cooling off, or background checks - it was ALL about registration. Serialization advocates fall into three types:
  • Those who are actually stupid enough to believe it is practical and will do something constructive
  • Those who couldn't care less about the above, but merely want to put in place an infrastructure or database of guns and gun owners, or use the certain failure of the law to accomplish anything as an excuse to further regulate private transactions, or seize pre-regulation guns, or something along those lines
  • Those who are 'advocates' simply because they haven't loudly and emphatically made their opposition known (most gun owners).
So, just because a new law won't work, or won't affect your personal guns or activities, or won't even stay on the books very long, doesn't mean it won't accomplish its real goal.

in regard to kalifornia old savage is correct. our votes here are worthless im sorry to say. we are outnumbered by communists and liberalism to the utmost extremes making our votes here meaningless. we cant get rid of fienstein and boxer no matter how hard we try. they are a permanent fixture. i hear guys talking about ccw permits in kalifornia which are almost non existant and i believe we will never become a right to carry state. the calif rifle & pistol assc. casually mentions it from time to time in their newsletter and that's as far as it goes. i relish the day i am able to blow out of this place for good and perhaps retire on my parcel in arizona.

JMiller is completely right about up state Il Annoy politicians. The most arrigant bunch of communist puke's you will ever see. And they don't care what a down state voter has to say. They all march to the Chicago beat and they have enough pull to run the entire state. Three fourth's of the population of the state of Il Annoy lives in the Chicago area, and it is all about them.

I have friends who work at the FBI center in Clarksburg, WV. Believe me they have the capability to do whatever they want to do. I am pretty sure it is already done. I will take your word about Canada, but I am pretty sure what is going on here in the USA. Tom.

Boys, step away from the computer. Walk outside. Look up into the sky!

Isn't that pretty? Now take a deep breath.....that's better.

Now, you can do more to affect your life and wellbeing and that of your loved ones by the decisions you make this next year than any politician who happens to sit in the Oval Office. Think about that and put it into perspective. You are going to be just fine. :D

Because we are a very small minority???

For the first time in my life, I registered as a Republican so that I could
attend the Republican caucus in Maine - and I did that only to vote for Ron
Paul and become a delegate for him at the state Republican convention in
May. Many people present at the event remarked that this causus was the best attended in years - and the day dawned as an ice storm was ending.

Our town had a turnout of 15 people - out of 850 registered Republican
voters. That's less than 2% voter turnout for those of you keeping score at home. If only another 2% of all Republican voters had turned up, (for
a total of 4%), and they were Ron Paul supporters, Ron Paul would have
taken Maine running away. 4% people. That's the esteem in which Americans now hold their right to vote.

"We have met the enemy, and they is us!" -Pogo

Jesse Ventura got out of politics - in part because of his frustration with
voter apathy.

How many of us have written our State or Federal representatives this year? Or last year - if only once? I know, I know - I get form letters as
replies sometimes, too. But one cannot win even a small battle if he isn't
in the fight.

If I were 'king' I'd enact ONE gun law - you couldn't buy a gun unless you showed the dealer copies of at least three letters to legislators or three letters to the editor of newspapers you'd had published since your last gun purchase. Too many guys I know have plenty of money for that new Leupold, yet not enough to send GOA or JPFO. They have time to scout for deer, but none to attend a legislative hearing. With friends like that you don't need enemies...
