Levergun Temptation Strikes again
I was just holding a 1949 Marlin 336A in 32 Special that appears to be a safe queen. The front sight hood is missing and the receiver has been drilled and tapped with a spacing matching a Weaver one piece base. There are filler screws in place. I have a old 336A in 35 Remington that is looking for company, and the asking price is only $329
Unless lightning strikes me down before Saturday or someone talks me out of it I'm going to purchase it. The price for the condition seems reasonable to me. What's your opinion?

Sounds like a fair price, but since they weren't drilled and tapped for a scope until 1956 it does hurt the value somewhat to be D&T.

[What's your opinion? ]
My opinion is that you're crazy - for not putting $10 down, to hold that puppy from disappearing - AND saving us from hearing yore sad tale of woe, after you do finally go back, only to find it long gone !
After all - At the worst case, if you changed your mind, the only thing you'd lose would be $10.

Already being drilled and tapped would save me the money of having it done myself. Sounds like a great buy.

Wasn't able to dicker much on the rifle, but got a box of ammo for my efforts.
I'll post pictures a bit later.

I dropped the lever and pulled the bolt and the insides of the rifle are as nice as the outside.
