2011 Gun Calendar Question
Boys, I'm working on my 2011 gun calendar. I've stumbled upon a couple local big collectors, so this one will have a bit more variety, including several old west sixguns, a Springfield, and quite a few leverguns including several Winchesters and a nice Marlin. I'm trying to figure out what to title the calendar. The one I've come up with is 'Guns of the Old-Timers'. However, I have a question. Where I grew up, 'Old-Timers' were the really old men, or their long departed fathers and grand-fathers, who had lived a long time and seen a lot and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. Where I grew up, they were the first settlers in my area. When I was a boy, I remember thinking that they were so old, they must be nigh unto a hundred years old. When they'd start talking about the old days, my ears would perk right up and I'd be glued to every word they said. The question is, is that phrase mean the same all over? ..... or would people in other places be mystified as to what an 'Old-Timer' is? What are your thoughts?
Here is the 2011 cover as it stands right now .....

Re: 2011 Gun Calendar Question
You could just title it "Old Time Guns". Short and no confusion about people.

Just don't do like the kids do, and instead of saying "Old Timers", they say "Altzheimers".

Re: 2011 Gun Calendar Question
Gday Kirk, Yeh, I like it alot. Old timers in Australia is recognised well along with Old Digger, virtually means the same. Its a respect thing. Let me know where I can get a copy in Australia, or a website I can hit and put it on my card over the net.
You may be interested in contacting the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia they might be interested in taking a bundle for sale in Aus. ssaa.org.au I will give them a ring if you like and ask. Loads of old west gun enthusiasts in this part of the World.
Kind regards
Bob

Re: 2011 Gun Calendar Question
Thanks for the input, men. I think I have about another month to go before I've finished this project. I still have a few more old leverguns to photograph. Maybe, I can get another vintage Marlin or two. I'll let you know when it is done.

Re: 2011 Gun Calendar Question
This "Old timer" is sure looking forward to a new calendar. Levers and sixguns just go together. Thanks for all your hard work.

I like it. Brings up great memories of my Grandfather, my Father and many of the men they worked and hunted with when I was a boy.
