ot- Lost my Oldest and Dearest friend today..

Post by 2ndovc »

Had to put my Old Black Lab Tasha down today. She's been a part of my life for nearly 16 years.
She'd been doing reallywell until a month or so ago and qickly went down hill.

Our Vet came out to the house and made it painless and dignified for her.

Image

I know I'll see her again some day but until then I know that wonderful spirit of her's
will always be there.

Sorry to hear this, it certainly is not easy when one of the family goes like that.

Sincere condolences. Many of us have been where you are, but that does not take the sting out of the loss. Its just not fair that the creatures who know the most about how to love get so little time to teach us what they know.

I'm sorry to hear that. Dogs are more than friends, more than family, they become part of you. Take care, you'll see her in your memories. Enjoy the good times.

Thoughts and prayers for you and yours. Honestly, I have to skip to the end of these threads after the first post. It always seems there's dust in the air...

That's nice your vet came to you. I'll have to try and remember that but not for years I hope.

16 years is a heck of a good run for a dog, means you were very good to her.

Deeply sorry for your loss.

I can empathize; we lost our dog of 13+ years last October to liver cancer. She stopped eating and refused food, we took her to the vet and they did an ultrasound. The next day I took her back and granted her wish to go.

Thanks Guys. Means a lot.

I held on to her far longer than I should have for my own selfish reasons.
Just wasn't ready to let her go. I've had her since I was in my late twenties.

She was having a terrible day today. I was wishing he would hurry up and get here but
also hoping he wouldn't make it.

When Doc got here he opend her file and whistled. "Fifteen and a half is anchient for a Lab".
I told him that it was largely due to him and his people taking such good care of our Girls.

The act itself was far less upsetting than making the decision to finally do it.

I buried her by a big hemlock in her favorite part of the yard.

Again,
Thank you all for the support.

You have my heartfelt sympathy.

Been there, done that, know how much it hurts,

Just remember she will be waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge.

Doc

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
