Marlin Dates of Manufacture?? pic

Post by win92 »

Just picked up this straight grip 45-70 and can't figure out how to use the S/n for the manufacture date (B004944) Shop told me the original owner traded it in on a push button safety model . I picked it up for 500.00 out the door ( Kanuk bucks) Looks real clean non micro groove barrel.
Anyone able toImage
help me with the Date Randy

The early 1895 is the exception to the serial number referencee. They used the BO prefix that was not used on other models. Your's should be a early version of the second generation, when they reintroduced that model designtaion. Probably 1972-73.

Great rifle.
I had one just like it years ago and foolishly traded it off. Wish I could find another one for what I paid for my first one.
