OT-Moving
I'm down to my last 3 weeks as a Vermont resident. I've never lived anywhere else since I was 2, so I'm pretty psyched for something new. I absolutely detest the process of packing and the inevitable trash removal chores that accompany it, though.

Good luck!
Re: OT-Moving
Best of luck, moving is hard. My brother moved 16 times in 18 years. If a box with a moving sticker from the last move had not had the tape cut, he would throw that box out without even looking. His philosophy was if I lived with out it for a year, I really don't need it!

Re: OT-Moving
I lived 11 different places during 13 years, but it was while I was in college, and didn't have much stuff to move, or much time to become 'accustomed' to anyplace for long. Still, it got to where I had boxes of stuff I just didn't bother to unpack. I found one box in 1988 I'd not opened since 1977...!
Hope you're going to a decent place, freedom-wise; hard to beat Vermont's gun laws...!

I've told my wife that if we ever hit the lottery and she wants a new house then all she can take with her is what she can fit in her car (NOT her car AND my truck, etc). The rest will be torched...Jason_W wrote:I absolutely detest the process of packing and the inevitable trash removal chores that accompany it, though.
Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits.

Good Luck, Jason!
I'm with ya - I absolutely HATE packing and moving.
PM me when you get settled.

Re: OT-Moving
Good luck with the move. Where are you moving to? I haven't moved in 20 years and don't plan on moving for another 20 but you know how plans go.

Re: OT-Moving
There's actually been a change of plans. Since neither of us have jobs yet, we're going to be staying with my wife's parent's in Brunswick for a short while we're getting on our feet. I have active applications out up I-95 from Augusta to Bangor, and up Rt1 from Freeport to Machias. I'm hoping I get a bite on at least one of them.stretch wrote:Good Luck, Jason!

I'm not really looking in the Portland area because of the cost of housing.

I get along great with them. My father in law and I do a lot of fishing together. He's actually my good luck charm. I only catch decent fish with him around.kimwcook wrote:Good luck and hope you land a job soon. Living with the in laws can be trying.
Still, it's a small house and not where my wife and I want to be for very long.

Re: OT-Moving
Best of luck on the move. We have averaged a move every 2.5 years over the last 14 years. Some times it sucks some times not.

Good luck!
I sooo hate moving. We moved four times in about 10 years. Last time was about two years ago. I plan on staying here a looooong time.

I have a degree in English (oops) with experience in general office work and education. I got myself through college working labor jobs, though.

Re: OT-Moving
It's not the moving I hate. I can move and stack boxes all day with no problem. What I can't stand is the organizing and packing part.TedH wrote:Good luck!

All the same, I'm looking forward to a fresh start.
