This guy turned 80 today and it is still banging away. I have proper pre-war wood on it now as the ivory's are too small for my hands. That is 50 rounds at 15 yrds offhand.
The one on the top turned 80 last week and the one on the bottom turned 80 a few days later. It is the lowest known serial number 3844 Heavy Duty out there.
They are still getting shot and being used. I hope I can do as well if I make it to 80.
Very nice old shootin irons Peter. I love the old Smiths
I regret trading off the 38/44 Outdoorsman I had. It had special order target sights, and ivory bead front sight. The shop had it labeled as a model 10. I looked at it and informed them that it wasn't a model 10, and was worth more. They said they would make money on it ($185 back in the mid 80's) and were happy to sell it for what they had on it. I bought it. Didn't take long to realize I wouldn't likely see another like it at a realistic price.
Should have kept the 1926 3rd hand ejector in 44 spl also.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?
Yeah I have a thing for 38/44's. I need to reshoot this picture because I have at least 8 or 9 more to go in it. I just have not taken the time to restage the shot again.
Mine had sights similar to the one at about 7:00. The very low, polished into the top strap type. Looked very well done, and very clean for adjustable sights. They really took a lot of time building them in those days.

May your rifle always shoot straight, your mag never run dry, you always have one more round than you have adversaries, and your good mate always be there to watch your back.

Peter M. Eick, you have too many of them there pistolas. You had better give one to me! Remember, it is better to give than receive, and I want to help you feel better.

TRUISM: if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. So, my advice is: Buy more guns!
