Long time follower of this forum, but recently a new owner of a Marlin 1895SDG in 45-70.
An absolutely tremendous rifle with wonderful balance. I spied it at a local gun shop and just had to have it. I was expecting a 16" barrel but in fact it was 18.5", which was fine for me since I can't image to balance being any better.
After some research I discovered they were "supposed" to 16" but after a factory mix up ended up at 18.5". Interestingly enough the tag on the box says 18.5" but the tag on the bag says 16.25" with the same serial number on both.
Can you tell I like black laminate. It's pictured with my Browning SA-22 and BLR 358 Win.

All i have to say is that any man who likes the .358 Winchester and the .45-70 Gov't is my kind of rifleman!!
