A moment of your time, please
As some of you might know, I have strong military ties through my former career and where I now live, which is close to Ft. Campbell, Ky. I saw an obituary yesterday that gave me pause. A fine young soldier had died in Afghanistan from wounds suffered from a roadside bomb exploding.
As I read his obituary, I suddenly felt an even more difficult dread than normal. I recognized the name of one of his relatives. Many years ago I actually served with this fine young man's Grandfather while assigned to the 82nd CAB, Ft Bragg, N.C. He was an older experienced pilot when I was a F.N.G. just out of flight school.
His Grandfather had retired years ago at the pinnacle of his field. His father still serves today as a LTC in Anchorage, Alaska. This family has obviously given much to the service of our great nation. I'd simply like to ask all of you to pause for a few moments today and send a short prayer in honor of PFC Jonathon David Hall and the thousands of other fine young people who protect our nation and our freedoms.
Many have given the supreme sacrifice for this nation and we must always remember and honor both them and their families.
Thanks,
Ed

Prayer is sent up for PFC Hall
My last duty assignment was as a "black hat" (slang for training NCO) at the AA school at Campbell. You and i have stomped some of the same ground possibly ----- i dearly remember many wild nights in the Clarksville area. (and a few nights i'd rather not remember)
PFC Hall died strong and his name will be celebrated by his family for generations ----- God bless the poor ***. As a PFC i will assume he was a young man, so my only hope is that he had a somewhat clear understanding of duty and oath before this happened. He has joined a long line of heroes and patriots. I hope he was able to experience a small slice of life, love and prosperity before he died for me and the rest of my countrymen
to this young man, if i could, i would say
GIVE WINGS TO YOUR TRIUMPHS !!! SCREAMING EAGLES !!!!!!!!

Re: A moment of your time, please
First, thank you to all that have read and sent prayers for this man and his family. I understand we all have ties to tragedies and the war on terrorism and I want you all to know that I appreciate your taking a few moments in memory of Jonathon and the other thousands of young people who guard our rights worldwide. Should it interest you I will include a link to an article in today's paper and another link to PFC Hall's obituary.
Thank You,
Ed

Re: A moment of your time, please
Please humor me for one last post here. The American hero who I mentioned to you all before has also become a German hero as well!!
Thank you ALL again for being true to our young men and women!!
Thank you,
Ed
Pfc. JONATHON DAVID HALL now lives through six (6) Germans who are the recipients of his heart, [19 yr old male] Munich; lungs, [15 yr old male] Munich; a kidney & pancreas, Homburg; the other kidney, Homburg; with two sharing his liver, Homburg. In addition, a number of individuals benefited from miscellaneous blood vessels, tendons, and ligaments.
I simply cannot portray to you all just how appreciative I am.
Thank you ALL, from the bottom of my heart.
