OT: Some sad news from home, Mom's dog died today
Sometime around October or November of '92 mom brought a box home with her. She had a part time job delivering Phoenix phone books. In this box was cutest little pooch I ever did see.
She said she'd paid $5.00 for him from a Mexican family on her route.
He was a Lab mix. Mixed with what I do not know. But it was a good mix.
We were all trying to find a name for him but none of us could. Then one day I was filling a fountain pen from a bottle and on the side of the bottle was the word "ink" in various languages. On of those was Tinte. I don't know which language it is, but mom liked it, it fit, and the little brown ball of trouble was from then on named "Tinte".
That little ball of brown trouble grew into a big 100+ pound pooch:
When mom went down sick with congestive heart failure in 96 he kept her company and kept her spirits up. In 98 I was the one doing all the doggie walking. We'd go on long walks in abandoned trailer parks where this crazy dog would dig up mice, crunch them, then with a shake of his head toss the carcass off to the side and go dig up another one. In '99 I moved here and in '01 mom died.
Since she had lived her last months with my aunt in Yava, AZ and we couldn't bring him back with us, Tinte stayed there.
I guess he had a good life there as he lived to be a very old dog.
He was 17 1/2 years old.
He died this afternoon.
I haven't seen him since 2001, yet I still have tears in my eyes and I miss him.
Well Tinte, go be with mom now and be in peace.
Joe

Sorry to hear that Joe, Tinte sure had a long life for a big dog. My condolences.

Truly man or woman's best friend. It's funny how the passing of an animal stirs such emotion in all of us.

That's a shame Joe. The loss of a pet isn't something to be taken lightly. Best to your Mom.

It's never easy to lose someone and it's just as hard to lose a loyal friend and part of the family. My condolences.

Nothing better than a good dog. I still miss a dog we lost when I was 8! Good thing they'll meet us on the other side.

you and your family have my deepest sympathy. He looked to be a fine old fellow, reminds me a bit of the first dog I ever owned.
