Vintage Picture Of The Day.
One of those pictures that conjures up a memory with Dad back
when everything was right in the world.
when everything was right in the world.

Wonderful! No camouflage, no granola bars, no bottled water, and a Norwegian Elkhound!
(When I was that kid's age, SuperX .22's had nickle-plated cases. I burned up a lot of them in my Model 62 pump gun... 47 cents a box!))

I never really went "hunting" with my dad either. I remember a couple times but I was kept in the back ground. Once a duck hunt, and the other a rabbit hunt. I never shot anything, just watched from the rear.rjohns94 wrote:never hunted with Dad. I have taken my son a couple of times but he isn't really into it. shame really.
I have no wonderful memories either.
Mike, if I ever get to your neck of the woods we can hook up and do something. Make our own memories. Howz that?

walked through the woods carrying guns, or walked through the woods carrying guns while we ran one my cousin's hounds after squirrels.
Between the interconnected farms of my grandfather, uncles and dad, there were many acres to cover.
Or drove to the old farm now owned by my uncle and hiked those bluffs and bottom, carrying guns.
My cousins kept the woods pretty much squirrel-free, I don't know if we ever shot one.
Ended the outing at one of the scattered trash burn spots plinking cans.
Then the long walk home, carrying guns.
It was always a great time.

My son is a pretty good shot, right or left hand. A natural, really. But he isn't really interested in hunting. All the kids went with me if I asked but none ever asked to go. I used to pester my dad...rjohns94 wrote:never hunted with Dad. I have taken my son a couple of times but he isn't really into it. shame really.

I recognize the Model 63, what is make of the bolt gun?
Re: Vintage Picture Of The Day.
since it's a Winchester ad, I suspect it's a model 67 (which, BTW my dad carried through the woods)Gun Smith wrote:I recognize the Model 63, what is make of the bolt gun?
And interesting, since my Mossberg .22 auto had the scope and the same in-the-stock teardrop-hole magazine tube.
(although, for me and my dad, the hats would be switched)
