Prayer Request (Up date)

Post by gamekeeper »

Hi all, this is a message from Gamekeeper Jnr. Todays been a pretty rough day as my dad aka game keeper has been admitted to hospital after suffering from a minor heart attack. I've been to see him this evening and he is doing pretty well and is in good spirits all things considered. It seems he has had multiple minor heart attacks since last weekend but had just put them down to heart burn, he's made of tough stuff I reckon!
He's undergone treatment to open up one of his arteries in his heart using stents. It all appears to have gone well and he should be out of hospital and back home on sunday.

I know he has made some good friends on this forum and your support in this difficult time is greatly appreciated. Hopefully he'll be back on here in no time, and with time off work for R&R he'll probably be posting more than ever!

Cheers
Elliot

Thank you all for your kind words, I must confess my screen got a bit misty whilst reading your kind words.
I'd also like to thank Doc Hudson for posting advice on Aspirins and Heart attacks. I started getting chest pains 7 days ago but it seemed more like Heartburn at the time but I played safe and took a couple of Aspirins anyway. I was on my way to the Doctors to get it checked out when "bam" I had real pain in my chest and left arm, my doctor gave me aspirin straight away and called an ambulance.
The ambulance was diverted to three different hospitals but I ended up in Southampton General Hospital, where I was immediately given treatment (a couple of stents pushed all the way from my wrist to my heart). Result, 100% success, Doctors were very pleased and I only had to stay in 48 hours. So I reckon someone up there was looking favorably on me. I will be off work for 4 to 6 weeks so I hope to follow Nath's advice and carry a rifle around the woods and hills, just purely medicinal of course.

Well done GK :D

I find 60 press ups with an assitant placing weights on my back is good, then there is running backwards up hills whilst holding a rifle above my head. Dragging an old truck tire around and shooting at rabbits is cool too

Only kidding, I would be in the olympics if I could do that!

That is great news! You may want to start having one glass of wine per day due to its proven effect in reducing heart problems and cholesterol. However, be sure to talk to your doctor first, in case it conflicts with any medication you are already receiving. I had an article somewhere around here on wine and middle aged men that found that a man can add an average of six years to his life by having one glass of wine per day. If a fellow likes to stay away from wine for whatever reason, you can get some of the benefit from grape juice, but you have to drink at least six glasses per day, and it is missing the important stuff that clears out your veins. My brother-in-law had a serious heart problem and his doc prescribed one glass of wine per day. Of course, I'm sure the doc will say not to overdo it! (i.e. several glasses of wine per day will come with a whole new set of problems, not to mention accuracy problems when you are out shooting :D ). I really hope things go well with your convalescence and you can get some most enjoyable time out shooting.
