OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
Following on the heels of JReed's recent "Show us what ya got..." posts, let's see what you all carry for pocket knives...
I always wear a Buck Tool on my belt (and have 4 extra and some spare parts in the cellar -- as I just never adapted to a Leatherman...) but I just got this custom little beauty at a blackpowder gun show yesterday... I've always wanted to get a nice burl-handled blade, or maybe even a Damascus blade, but I really didn't expect to get both at the same time. This custom knife also has Damascus metal for the bolsters. Pretty neat, as least I think so. I had looked at it early in the show, but the father away I got from it, the louder it was calling me from way across the hall... (What does she think she is... A levergun or something???)
I added the quarter in the pix for scale -- and the "boots" were added for Ysabel Kid of course!
So... What'cha carrying in your pocket???
Later we can do a post on belt or sheath knives if you want...

Re: OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
I put one together from a parts kit from Darrel Ralph.
Titanium liners, AUS 7 blade, cocobolo scales I sanded and polished but left au-natural, my own filework on the spine.
milled the scales to thickness
drum sanded the spine and scales to shape
scales mounted after the filework is done
finished, and a little belt sheath for it.
Keeps a heluva edge and has a stout, solid, yet butter-smooth action that really "walks and talks" SO nice.

I take them one at a time and leave the curio at home.
Besides, it has my fishing reels (I guess I may take them out 2-at-a-time

Bulldog, you store your sheaths upright, but upside down, any reason for this?
Re: OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
no, just a place to prop them up - no other reason at all.

Original Leatherman tool ( a lot of the later ones strike me as to big and bulky) and Smith and Wesson 's.w.a.t. first milennium run' OR if hunting, a synthetic handled puma folding knife.
Lately I have been carrying a little Buffalo River folder that is of surprisingly good quality given its price point.

Re: OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
I was down at my local sporting goods store yesterday. He has a really nice, large, selection of knives and he had a really nice Kershaw in the display cabinet.
I had some NIB Case knives and took 5 of them down today to see if he'd swap straight across. He said yeah so I came home with this knive.
Kershaw Nakamura Model 1480; Clad VG-10 stainless steel center core with 420J2 outer layer blade and very sharp right out of the box. Yowza!!!! Very fancy. The scales (handles) are Quince Wood.
It has really nice work on the bolster showing the copper layering in the bolster. The knife has a clip but at only 3 7/8" closed with a 2 7/8" blade it will make a just right sized pocket knife so I think I'll take the clip off and carry it in my right front pocket as the left front pocket is occupied with the Spyderco Delica I posted a picture of earlier in the thread.

Well not a "pocket" knife, but this one is my current favorite. In the fancy class.

Re: OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
Better late than never (which is pretty much the story of my life these days)...
This is the lockblade folder I carry all the time except when I have to fly.
Here is the Swiss Army Knife I carried for decades, from my youth, and I still carry at Boy Scout activities.
And these are just "back-up" pocket knives for everyday use!

Moki bird & trout
this is the first one I pick up when there is work to do - the most natural-feeling little knife I've ever handled
thanks for posting photos, guys - nice knives.

Very nice knife. You say you made it. Was it from a kit or did you make it from scratch. Regardless, it is very handsome.hondo1892 wrote:This is the knife I carry daily. I made it last year to replace my old one I sold. Use it for feild dressing most of my deer also. Its an old mediterainean style.
Re: OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
Modoc I made it from scratch. I don't make them very often, usually one a year. They are time consuming to get everything just right.
Re: OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
This one is a handy little knife ... nothing fancy like some of the ones posted but it works. It's by Microtech ...

Re: OT: Show Pix of Your Pocket Knives
I always have at least two pocket knives with me unless I am flying.
I have the Spyderco that is on the top left clipped to my pants pocket.
I carry one of the others below it in my pocket.
The bottom left one is a neat little Gerber money clip.
The one in the middle at the bottom is my late fathers' "penknife" he was never without it.
