For the techie types out there. Here's a Link to CNET article on how to enable and use GodMode (that's what it's called) in Windows 7 (supposed to work with Vista also). Tried it with Win7, works pretty cool and is pretty handy to have all Windows settings, control panels, etc all in one location. Don't know about it working with Vista.

Thanks, I'll tell my brother about it. I didn't get to play with his new laptop enough to really get a feel for the new 7 OS but it can't be worse than Vista.

I've got a neighbor who's a Systems Architect at MicroSoft. I copied the OP's post and sent him an email requesting information. My guess is that it's a developers artifact that they discovered.

I use it, its mainly a way to skip sub menu torture. In both vista and windows 7 you have to go through a million stupid windows with just a few items on each, to open another window with a few items on it, to open another window... just to get some system setting changed. Try assigned a static IP for example. You have to go to Start> Control Panel> Network And Sharing Center> Change Adapter Settings. This way you can just look in that folder for Adapter Settings instead of having to go through other places to dig it up. Lets you avoid the dumbed down "user friendly" stuff and skip right to where you know you want go instead of having to navigate your way to an otherwise hidden page of settings.
It also doesn't matter what name you put before the period. Mine is ControlPanel instead of GodMode.
Lastly, if you try it in vista it will crash
