Post by big bear »

Will this work? I have a 71 with Post office shattered/splintered stocks, unable to find replacement stock/fore end.

Hey big bear,
The Browning stocks will work just fine. Here are some pictures of the one I recently listed in the classifieds. Original Win fore end and Browning stock.

I put a Browning stock on a Winchester rifle. Although it need A LOT of fitting work I did get it to fit. Finish is good, fit is marginal at best, but I turned an unshootable Winchester into a servicable rifle.

I have a Winchester 71 1st yr production that has the long tang. I think the later ones have a short tang as do the Brownings. That may be something to keep in mind. I didn't read the other posts here so maybe they already mentioned that.
