OT- "Trophy Hunter" caught in web of lies....!

Post by deerwhacker444 »

This is a pretty funny thread. This guy called ColeHaus claims to have killed 2 massive Muleys in CA. I wont spoil it, find out the details.

What a dork (I can think of many other names, but this is a "G" rated forum).

Un-frickin-believable. I got po'd just reading it and I'm still hot about it. I hope he gets into serious (felony) trouble with DFG.

Thanks for the post deerwhacker.

I sure hope the state throws the book at him. With them ( the state) needing money like they do maybe this would be a good chance to make up a large portion of that budget shortfall.

People take this stuff too seriously.

This is just injecting human ego into hunting, i.e., "Hey boys, look how big my horn(s) is!"

Ridiculous.

As humorous as it is on the surface, this is just another example of an epidemic sweeping the civilized world: people thinking they are the star of their own movie.

Shucks fellas… I put down 6 moose one evening before the light had faded too much for one to still see good enough to get a shot off.

Yeah, those mooseheads were in fact Canadian beers, but hey – it makes for a great story.

It saddens me as a retired nurse of over 20 years and the recipient of a kidney transplant in 1970 that the owner had to sell those antlers to pay medical bills. He had to sell something that meant a lot to him to do something honorable...pay his bills. What a novel idea nowadays. The scumbag who bought them then makes out like he is the greatest hunter since Daniel Boone. Decorum prevents me from writing on this forum what I feel should be done to this dirtbag other than it would involve the insertion of a foley catheter the size of a garden hose. He dishonored himself, the seller and worst of all, honest hunters who take part in a time honored tradition. Besides the catheter, maybe a nasogastric tube should be shoved down his nose into his stomach and a gallon of Golytely poured in. He will poop his brains out and probably pass out due to electrolye and fluid depletion. I have nothing but disqust for this guy. Since he is so cyber oriented I think his purging should be put on YouTube. Since the deer were not harvested in CA, I think the fines should be donated to the original owner of the antlers to help defray the cost of his medical bills. I may seem over the edge but as a nurse and kidney transplant recipient I know the life changing events faced by the seller of those antlers and find what the buyer did reprehensible. Rant over. Sorry for venting my bile and my apologies to anyone who was offended.

Here we have a tool posing as a mighty hunter (doesnt' even know what that really means) while on the other hand, we have a member here posting about being saddend by a possibly lost meat buck and feeling responsible - even though it was his little bro that made the shot. Quite the contrast. No idea vs totally gets it.

Am I really surprised that someone would prepetrate such a huge hoax on the internet? NO! The internet is full of similar situations at various sites. People who sit in their room and dream of being somebody and the only way they can do it is to post these tall tales.
This guy took it a step farther involving DFG records, and numerous publications, but I'm sure he didn't start that way. If the investigation goes far enough I bet they'll find this is the pinnacle of his escapades, but there's probably a mountain of falsehoods throughout his life.
I just feel sad for those close to him that will all have to change their names to disassociate themselves from this legacy he's created. I hope they throw the book at him, and I hope he's afraid to ever show his face in the woods or any web site!

Wow, what a jerk. I don't mind if someone gets a trophy from a game ranch or from a deer lease inside of a high fence if they truly do the shooting and are truthful about the circumstances. Truth is important. Cole Houston deserves whatever the State of California plans to do to him.

I cannot wrap my mind around how a fellow can live with himself and see his own lying face in a mirror every morning, when he is living a lie of his own invention. There is a real problem in our society with the lack of honour. If a man has no honour (and I'm talking about 'real' honour rather than what his lips might announce), then he's nothing. It seems to me that most people I pass in the street haven't even seriously thought about what honour is, let alone see it as key to what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God. Along this line, I once heard a quote (source forgotten) that went something like this, 'The measure of a man's honour is determined by the decisions a man makes when he believes no one else will ever know.' Sooner or later, everything comes to light, then the true measure of a man's honour becomes known. In this 'trophy hunter's' case, things have come to light and now where is his honour?

There is another quote I saw in a newspaper headline once, 'Seconds of glory, years of shame'.

cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.
