Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
Thinking about getting the P60L LED replacement lamp.
Has anyone made the switch?
If so was it worth the $ 49.00?
I’m thinking just the savings in batteries would pay for itself over time.
Those 3V batteries are not cheap, and you only get about an hour or so
of light out of a pair.

Re: Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
I bought a Cree P4 LED module for my P6. Cost me $14, including shipping from Hong Kong. Works fine and has more light output than the official Surefire module but I haven't had it long enough to judge battery life. I did hear that Surefire use Cree LED modules in some of their products.

?? I get months out of mine, but I do not leave the light on all the time. I only use the depress button on the rear of the light when needed. Batteries are not expensive when purchased directly from SureFire.

My Surefire is not my everyday flashlite so I get good life out of my batteries.
The Surefire is when I need a BRITE light , like looking deep under the hood of the
car in the daytime. Of course I am speaking of other uses beside it's main use of security,
self-defense situations, etc.
I also would be interested of others opinion of the LED conversion.

Re: Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
I bought the 6P LED model when it was first released and I've been very happy with it compared to the standard model I'd used before. It's plenty bright enough and the batteries last a lot longer. I buy my batteries in bulk from battery junction and they are much cheaper that way.
Re: Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
Does the 6P allow the R2 upgrade? If so, I highly recommend it.
You should ask the guys on the Candlepower forum -- they are the "geeks" of lights in general, especially the 6P. You may also find upgrade kits cheaper on their classifieds.
There's also this conversion kit for $25 --

Re: Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
I put the LED lamp in my G2, and couldn't be happier. Gives me plenty of light, along with saving my batteries!

Thanks all for the input.Steve Collins wrote:I put the LED lamp in my G2, and couldn't be happier. Gives me plenty of light, along with saving my batteries!
Decided to do the LED upgrade
It has become my favorite light, I do use it often enough to warrant it.

Re: Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
I did the conversion on mine and like it fine, plenty bright and batts last much longer. However, for not much more than the price of the LED lamp for the 6P, I found a light I like much better. Its a Fenix, available from Brothers of the bow.com, smaller and lighter than the 6P it is also brighter with several levels of output including a 225 lumen level. Its an incredable light.
Re: Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
Fenix makes great lights, as does O-light and a number of other Surefire competitors. I recently picked up one of these:

For $30, I am very pleased. It's a nice match for my T20, and about $70 less than the comparable M20.

Re: Converting My SureFire 6P To LED ?
Get the TNVC LED drop in, their quality control is good.
It's also brighter than the Surefire dropin.
Having used Surefires for everything from guiding vehicles and aircraft to (extensively) searching buildings in the dark......the LEDs do save on battery drain, for weaponmounts they also reduce likelihood of recoil busting a lamp or any other internal components.
The throw is good, and they perform well.
