All the guy in the hole had to do was to start digging some of the dirt out of the side of the walls of the hole and as the dirt pile got higher, just keep standing on it until he could reach the edge of the hole and pull himself out but he didn't even attempt to save himself.

It's better to make an effort to save yourself than to rely on others to save you. When you do make that effort and it isn't enough, you appreciate your saviour much more and tend to pass it on.

I love that story/illustration. It has been used by preachers in India for several generations at least. I first heard it in a sermon in Hydrabad in 1973 and have used is numerous times myself. It is still powerful and fresh. Thank you for the post and whoever made it into a video.

I think one of those travelers - I'm not saying which one - would have told the man to go strap on some explosives and blow himself out of the hole - but wait until he could kill some "infidels" in the process. Then he would have excused himself to go practice pedophilia with one of his many extremely underaged wives.
