OT - How old is this doe..?
Picture of a doe taken last week where I'm going bowhunting tomorrow morning.
What's your best guess on this doe. Pot-bellied, a bit sway backed with a long snout. I bet she's got some years on her. Almost looks like some sort of camel relative. What do you think, does she have any teeth left.?

Living in the wild ages a gal beyond her actual years.
It's like trying to guess how old a biker chick is. She might be 25 but looks 40.
Buy her a shot and pull one of her teeth next time you see her.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Re: OT - How old is this doe..?
This is a tricky one with only one picture. I agree with the items you pointed out. However, they are somewhat contradicted by the narrow circumference of the neck, the thin ears, the indented hips and the small to average leg glands and dew claws. I can't see the hoof size that good but they appear to be in proportion to the lower leg diameter and not greater in diameter. I think the fact that she is not rotund in front of the hips is an indicator of an illness or injury or a deficiency in calcium or sodium. There are no nipples visible and I don't see the tell-tale rubs that give away the fact that the deer recently birthed fawns. Everything considered, I think this deer is only 3 1/2.

Re: OT - How old is this doe..?
IMO, she doesn't look old but is far from healthy looking. As stated, with only one picture and no other references to her size it's hard for me to tell. I will say this though, that deer would have a very tough time surving a winter around here if she looks that bad now.
