.730 TNT ???????????????

Post by madman4570 »

Here is a question for someone that knows a lot more than myself about shotgun slug design?(which dont take much)

I was just wondering would there ever be a possibilty of say using a Belt Mountain Punch Bullet in a Shotgun? Lets say a guy has a Mossberg 835 or 535 (3.5" 12 ga) with the 24" Full rifled Barrel.

I am talking about somthing maybe in the 600-700gr range.Somthing for less than 100yds,but somthing with a huge bore dia. and massive weight.Velocity that maybe could be in the 1500fps+
Can you imagine a new we will call it The .730 TNT,and have it for around $300 it seems like they can up the game on the Bullets with a 3.5" shell and being a rifled barrel with a .729 bore.just thinking?

I've shot 546 grain bullet from 12 bore at 1550 fps and 656 grain slugs at 1300 fps, both slugs being solid brass or solid copper respectively. Neither was as impressive as I had hoped as far as accuracy and penetration.

If you want something powerful, you might like this "12 gauge wildcat" - I believe the link below has some VIDEO footage of it, or a link to it. Pretty awesome, and one was made on a NEF breakopen rifle chassis.

Thanks you two! its nice to pick your High IQ brains. I feel little more than semi-retarded  compared to you two.If I was going up in the Space Shuttle/Space Craft (ya right?) I would want you guys beside me.
Doc could keep me well, and do almost anything and Joe could also do almost anything and kill whatever needed killing in any galaxy. And probably Doc could kill most anything too! :)

I just have to keep in mind the axiom - "Heal patients - Kill zombies" So far the voices in my head keep me aware of who is a patient and who is not... :?

Seriously, that 12 gauge 'wildcat' sure looks AWESOME. It would be about as practical as having a .50 BMG, which I don't have either, but from a purely stupid guy-toy point of view, what a 'blast' (literally) one of them would be. Probably cost way less than the .50 BMG, and out to 100 yards, be just as devastating.

Still, until I'm reincarnated as a radiologist, I won't have enough spare money to justify spending all that on something only useful to vaporize cement blocks or propane tanks.
